Building a Seasonal Play Queue (Without a Second Backlog)

By Playlogs

Four games per season. One long, one short, one co-op, one wild card. A Playlogs-friendly queue you can actually finish.

A seasonal play queue

Annual “goty” pressure is noisy. A seasonal queue is quieter and finishable.

The four-slot model

  1. Long — RPG, monster hunter, big campaign
  2. Short — indie narrative or arcade clear
  3. Social — co-op or live service in rotation
  4. Wildcard — genre you rarely touch

Put only these four in Planned / Active. Everything else waits outside the season.

Mid-season edits are allowed

If the long game turns toxic, On hold it and promote something from the shelf. The point is a living queue, not a prison.

End of season ritual

On the last weekend, review Completed logs. Write one sentence about what the season felt like. That ritual makes the diary feel like a book of chapters, not a database.

Why it works with Playlogs

Statuses already map to the model. You’re not building a new app habit — you’re limiting Planned with intention.

Try it for one season. If you finish two of four, you still beat the infinite backlog.
