Burnout Softens When You Use On Hold
By Playlogs
On Hold is the most underrated status in any game diary. Here’s how to use it before you Drop something you might still love.
Burnout and On Hold
Dropping feels permanent. Leaving a game in Active forever feels like a debt. On hold is the middle path.
What On Hold means
You’re not done. You’re not playing. You might return. That sentence alone reduces guilt for a surprising number of players.
When to use it
- Difficulty wall after a long week
- Waiting on a patch / friend group
- Story fatigue mid-RPG
- Life simply got louder than your hobby
Pair it with a note
“On hold after act 2 — combat loop still fun, plot dipped.” That note makes returning easy. Blank On Hold entries become graves.
Time-box returns
Optional but powerful: “Revisit in April.” If the date passes and you don’t care, convert to Dropped without drama.
Playlogs can’t fix burnout. It can stop your UI from pretending you’re actively playing eight RPGs. Clean Active lists are a wellness feature dressed as metadata.
