Co-op Games Deserve Their Own Logging Habits
By Playlogs
Party games and live-service co-op break single-player diary rules. Here’s how to log them without lying to yourself.
Logging co-op without lying
Single-player statuses map cleanly to campaigns. Co-op does not. You can “finish” a battle pass and still be Active two years later.
Split the question
Ask two questions separately:
- Campaign / story complete? → Completed (or note “story done, still playing endgame”)
- Still in the social rotation? → keep Active, or use On hold between seasons
Rate the loop, not the friends
It’s easy to give an 9 because your friends were online. Try rating the systems as if you queued solo once. Your diary becomes more portable when the group chat changes.
Session-length honesty
Log short notes like “great 3-stack nights; solo grind is empty.” That single sentence explains a 7 better than any genre tag.
Live-service caution
Avoid eternal Active guilt. If you haven’t launched in a month, On hold is accurate — you can always return when the next expansion lands.
Co-op is half the medium now. Your Playlogs habits should admit that without turning every seasonal game into a forever Active obligation.
