Platform Hopping: One Log or Many?
By Playlogs
PC, console, cloud — how to track multiplatform play without turning your diary into a spreadsheet.
Platform hopping without spreadsheet brain
Cross-saves and multiplatform releases make “where I played this” fuzzy. Keep the diary simple.
Default rule: one log per game
Unless the platform changes the game (competitive ranked, exclusive content, wildly different performance), one Completed log is enough. Put the primary platform on the log and mention cross-play in a note.
When to split
- Competitive seasons tied to a platform
- A remaster exclusive that you finished separately
- A cloud version so compromised you abandoned it, then finished natively
Those are different experiences.
Performance notes age well
“PS5 60fps mode, great; PC later for mods” is a perfect one-liner. Future you will care when recommending the game to a friend with only one machine.
Store links vs your log
Catalog store links tell you where to buy. Your log tells you where you lived with the game. Don’t confuse the two.
Pick a primary platform for each Active title and stop second-guessing. Consistency beats perfect inventory.
