From Civil Spring to Democratic Summer

This book investigates the contemporary challenges of diversity, multiculturalism, and religious pluralism to the protection of human rights and the freedoms of citizens within societies (states) in transition. Focusing on various social, political, legal, cultural, and economic aspects of rights and freedoms in the context of the early Soviet Union and its first constitution, the book examines why (some) state(s) fail to develop from totalitarianism to democracy and fall back into dictatorship.
