The story takes place three years after the second major invasion of the Southern Song Dynasty by the Jin Empire. Picking up where the first game left off, the tale follows Zhang Ru Meng, the son of the great Southern Song general and famed swordsman "Flying Sword" Zhang Feng, and Nan Gong Cai Hong, daughter of the Jin Empire’s grand advisor and "Heavenly Sword" Nan Gong Mie. Once bitter enemies, the two became lovers. They retreated to live in the distant desert, away from worldly affairs. In a flash, twenty years pass. Their son, Nan Gong Fei Yun, is now sixteen years old. Gifted both intellectually and in martial arts, he has begun to show real promise.
